So there we were, he was deep in his passionate speech to run the final mile. We didn't even have the strength to say a bitter nice try.

Finally he asked for one of us to respond to him tomorrow and being the usually outspoken lass I am, I was trying hard to send him a telepathic message not me not me not me and trying to make myself as small as possible. And lo and behold, he turned his eyes on me and asked me with a small smile whether I would have that honour.

Upon my fantastically contrived pained look, another outspoken lad said enthusiastically, that'll be great!
