A rainy afternoon

One good thing about being in the kind of job I'm in, free meals are in abundance!

Was meeting my distributor for lunch today and he introduced me to a restaurant with really nice decor and ambiance.

The irony of it was, I'm in Singapore, having lunch at a Japanese restaurant that served Western food.

Somehow, sitting there looking out into the rainy afternoon, gave me a sense of satisfaction. It is one of those moments that hints to me when I move on from Singapore, I will say, it has been good. The Lord has given me good days.

Bad student

This month is one of the low periods when I question why in the world am I back in this company and in this job.

Grrrrrrrrrrr.

I have this sense of dread that I will never escape this company.

Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Today was the first day of a part-time theology course that Pastor kicked me into doing. The good thing is the Pastor's Wife is in it as well and I dragged YYee to come along as well.

Rushed to the class after work and for the next 1.5 hours was fidgeting and dreaming away...

"I'm hungry..."

"I'm tired..."

"I would like a burger..."

"I could doodle a whole series of cartoon right now and call it the Chronicles of Ee Studying..."

"Look at that YYee all excited..."

And honestly. If you put YYee and me side by side, I was slumping throughout most of the class while YYee was all bright-eyed and excited. Whenever she turned around to grin about something I would give her a silent grunt look. Like this...

Hooo boy. It'll be an interesting 3 months. A real test, as I've always been a bad fidgety and dreamy student.

Defining destiny

The last 9 months Church has been tiring, demanding and exciting, with the different dynamics of people being drawn to this lil' group.

It's been wildly interesting to see how unpredictable He has been and you can't help be amazed at how logical it all seems in an indiscernible pattern at the same time.

It feels like we're paying very close attention to what God is doing week to week. Have I always been blind to God's movements or is He particularly being very active in this season the Church is in? Because every week something happens which makes our senses perk up and causes us to wonder at what is unfolding before our eyes.

It is exciting to see one by one someone in the group undergoing some form of change.

And the picture below somehow feels like it is capturing an essence of the Church in the midst of having its destiny defined.

The Tutti Frutti gang. Coincidentally, all the girls came in tones of black, white and brown!

Not in this 1001 sqft!

When I prayed over my home to appease my flatmate's fear of the unknown, it went along this:

"Through the authority of the blood of Jesus Christ, I declare that no unwanted and uninvited spirit shall remain in this home. If there are any such spirits here now, in the Name of Jesus depart!

*Short pause*

... No unwanted spirit shall enter and remain in any of the 1001sqft of this apartment that is legally under my name AEW!!!"

What?

I just wanted to be thorough in case it was a legalistic spirit.

The haunting

So there I was, changing in the gym, when I saw an earring on my gym towel. I picked it up, peered at the green and white stone settings on it and thought to myself that someone must have dropped it. So I left it on the side.

Before I left the gym, I noticed it was still on the bench and no one had taken claim of it. Without thinking, I left the changing room and dashed home.

Famished, when I got back, I rushed into the kitchen to prepare my dinner. And then I noticed something on the kitchen top.

It was the exact same side of the earring of the one I left in the gym, that was 20 minutes bus ride away from my home.

....

I panicked a little because I thought it was my housemate's earring and I had left the other side in the gym! So I went out and asked her if it was hers.

She said no, she thought it was mine. She found it IN a pot, and the pot was IN the kitchen cabinet, which she cleaned thoroughly 2 weekends ago and had not seen it then. We had cooked on Saturday as well and neither of us saw it.

I stared at the earring and burst out, "Why is this earring haunting me?!?!!?"

I didn't think it was my mom's because in my housemate's words, it was too gaudy looking. And my mom prefers gold and not very fond of my "costume jewelry" as she calls it.

If it belonged to my aunt and grandma who stayed over at my place before Christmas, why in the world has it only appeared today of all days, twice, and how did it get into the pot kept in a kitchen cabinet, that my housemate cleaned and polished thoroughly due to her OCD-ic tendencies?!?!

And my reaction was to burst out laughing, which caused my housemate to stare at me suspiciously.

But I just thought it was really funny and what a story to tell!

Of course, I prayed over the house after that, just so that my housemate can have a proper sleep without worrying too much.
