Home and away

Back from a 2 week trip to US with mom and sis and have to be away again to Newcastle for a long awaited for wedding.

Didn't realise how much I miss all things familiar to me until I got back to my flat, sunk into my bed and my duvet warmly greeted me home.

And now have to leave it again :(

I feel almost brand new

After work, I had to travel into Central London to pick up a document. At the train station, the attendant was asking me to pay £7+ for the ticket, to which I explained to him all the previous times I've traveled on the same ticket I was asking for I paid much less. He was not budging and insisting that the amount was right, and I tried explaining the situation 3 times at least.

I was quite surprised that my temper wasn't the least ruffled, and I was very patient in trying to be as clear as possible that I was not intent on paying extra.

Thankfully, his colleague sorted it out and I didn't have to pay extra.

When I got to the office where I needed to pick up the document, it wasn't with the reception as I was told it would be left. Calling the mobile, it went straight to the voicemail of the person who was supposed to leave the document with reception. The guard at the reception tried to look many times but found nothing, and finally, I managed to get through to the person's mobile, and he had forgotten about it and was very apologetic, since I had to travel all the way to the office to pick up the document.

Again, I was surprised by my tranquility and I was laughing as I told him that what was done was done.

I am actually, really quite amazed at how tranquil I felt today. And it occurred to me, it has been a week since I've cut back on my caffeine intake, and the first day I have not suffered from massive, throbbing headaches.

A M A Z I N G

Good girl! Get rid of the caffeine addiction whilst you are still young, yah :)

My Superhero

I had a slightly more stressful day at work than usual, but by far not as near as the stress levels I experienced in my last company. And I really wanted to watch the Dark Knight film since everyone keeps talking about how good it was.

I was thrilled when I got back and saw Shanx2 watering the plants outside her flat and asked if she wanted to go watch together and seeing I was quite keen on it she agreed. I called Chris and he was a minute away from the flat, and just bumped into Evo, and they both were up for the last minute plan for the movie as well. I love how everyone lives walking distance from one another, and can do things together easily enough.

After the film, the first thought that ran through my head was, I wasted 2 hours of my life on this.

I didn't like the fact it wasn't a feel good film. Yes, I'm shallow, I know.

Life has enough evil and troubles, I don't really need my movies to have that as well.

I didn't like how real the evil felt. Two hours after the film though I started to appreciate the film a little more, but only because we were all talking about the film and trying to understand the psychology behind it.

About why this world needs their heroes and what are heroes being born out of. We compared between Superman, Spiderman and Batman, and how the world is really looking for its Saviour through these fictional hero characters.

My favourite part of the movie? The part where it provoked conversations on how Jesus, the One not of this world and infinitely more powerful (Superman), the unlikely hero (nerdy Peter Parker aka Spiderman) and the man of sorrows who carries the burden of the world but hated by men who don't understand the sacrifices He makes (Batman), has come to save and seek the lost.

Yes, I like the movie very much, only because it reminds me that no matter how much evil there is in the world, that even when evil thought it had triumphed in bringing death unto the crucified God, death could not hold Him and thus He was risen from the grave.

That is why I do not worship someone who lies in a tomb, but one who walked out of it.

Shameless I is

I get along really well with a colleague who sits behind MW, who sits on my right. He was one of the first few who made me feel really welcomed when I first joined the company.

It so happened this afternoon we both swirled around on our chairs to face each other and my first reaction when we made eye contact was to frown at him and lift my index finger to my lips to shush him for the fun of it as I picked up the phone to make a call.

Just as my frown formed, my lips curled and my finger halfway to my lips, I saw him whip out a packet of sweets and lift it towards me to offer it at the same time so I quickly dropped my finger and my curling lips spread out widely and gave him a sweet smile to encourage him to gimme those sweets.

He gave me an earful for my incredible shamelessness. Didn't really care, I got the sweets.

flirty you is?

write a few dozen more posts like this and you can stitch them into a screenplay for a chick flick.

Old friends

Funny how the most difficult people are the ones that are most willing to help you when you really need it!

For all the grief an ex-line manager gave me, throwing me into the deepest end of the swimming pool on the first day on the job, the day to day aggravation and agitation working with this ex-manager, the shouting matches, the dirty looks we gave each other (though I like to think mine was more subtle but I doubt it) and the moments when I thought the ex-manager irrational reasoning was beyond acceptable while the ex-manager felt I was insubordinate, I picked up the phone and gave the ex-manager a ring and it genuinely felt like I was speaking to an old friend.

Funny how that works out.

Uh oh... I'm addicted

to caffeine!

Ooooohhh nooooooo...

I hate being dependent on anything, and I'm very annoyed to find out I've formed a physical dependency on caffeine!

It must be all that stupid tea I take every single day. For some reason, this week I've just been completely put off by tea and coffee because I'm tired of the taste, so I've drank hot water mixed with honey.

And it puzzled me, that despite having more rest and sleep than I usually have, I've felt constantly tired. I was whining to people about how tired I've been and people have, well, just thought of it as whining. But when I fell asleep almost immediately on my 20 minute train ride home yesterday, dozed off during prayer meeting (only for a short while), I knew I was really tired.

And this morning, as I walked from the train station to the office the right side of my head was pounding away. And I reaaaallly struggled in the morning because I was tired, listless, and the pounding headache was not getting any better.

So I decided to have one cup of coffee.

*POOF*

Gone was my headache and my tiredness.

Sigh.

Now I've got to carve out a plan on how to get rid of this addiction.
