Funny how the most difficult people are the ones that are most willing to help you when you really need it!
For all the grief an ex-line manager gave me, throwing me into the deepest end of the swimming pool on the first day on the job, the day to day aggravation and agitation working with this ex-manager, the shouting matches, the dirty looks we gave each other (though I like to think mine was more subtle but I doubt it) and the moments when I thought the ex-manager irrational reasoning was beyond acceptable while the ex-manager felt I was insubordinate, I picked up the phone and gave the ex-manager a ring and it genuinely felt like I was speaking to an old friend.
Funny how that works out.
