Blackish Monday
Yesterday evening I felt a little tinge of unwellness. Tired, slightly dizzy and slightly nauseous so went to sleep quite early. Even though I had close to 10 hours of sleep, I still woke up this morning a little late. Late meaning by 3 minutes.
But the bus was late by 5 minutes. By the time it came, there was a huge crowd at the bus stop. By the time most of the people got on board, it took an additional 1 minute than quieter days.
Then the bus insisted on stopping and letting all other vehicles go first in the narrower lanes. Oh yes, it was raining as well.
When the bus finally inched closer to my stop, I could see my train arriving. Got off the bus to rush to the station and nearly (by nearly, not really all that nearly lah but enough for drama sake) got run over.
That still didn't stop me. I wanted to catch the train, so kept running. Only for another car to splash cold puddle water all over me. Lucky this morning I decided to wear a waterproof jacket rather than using an umbrella. But my jeans was thoroughly wet.
And I still missed my train by 10 seconds and had to wait for another 30 minutes for the next train.
Sigh.
In order to deceive the universe, I told people I have maxed out on bad luck, so the rest of the day must really be super good and let self-prophecy be tricked. It didn't do too bad. I actually ended the day well.

Santa Claus is not coming
Yesterday my office had a women's Christmas lunch in a nearby restaurant. The few of us sitting at my end were talking about their disappointment when they first learned that Santa Claus was not true.
I told them I used to believe in Santa Claus too, until one day (I forgot how old I was), I was saying to my sister in a wistful tone,
"I wish Santa Claus would come to Malaysia... why does he only give presents to kids in America?"To which my sister gave me a look and said dryly,
"You do realise that Santa Claus isn't real don't you?"Aaaahhh...
Well, unlike my English counterparts, I wasn't disappointed in the least with that discovery!!! Hah!!! If anything, I was glad that Western kids didn't get fantastic presents every Christmas for free either!!

What the...
I was walking back home from the bus stop after work, when I saw a man standing in the middle of the pavement looking up. And I thought to myself with a bit of alarm... "What in the world is that sticking out of the side of that man?!? It looks like an arm!!! Oh. It is his arm."
And giggled at myself.
Hehe.
It's just that his arm looked like a fake arm, and I was wondering why he had a fake arm stuck out of him.
I'm just tired.
Still adjusting to work.

Mo da di di ay
When I posted the picture of Chun Keat looking at Joe Jim's
Transformers toys, I wanted to comment that I can barely remember much of the cartoon that I watched when I was a kid except for a small phrase in the theme song...
"Mo da di di ay"
That's all I can remember in my last 20 years of existence. Oft times I puzzled... why? What did it mean? Was it meant to be something so utterly deep and profound that it escaped my simple mind's understanding?
I was discussing the Transformers movie with a friend on Sunday who, by the way, declared (emphatically) that it was through Transformers boys first learnt to cry.
When Optimus Prime died.
-_-"
Anyway! Since we were on the subject, I asked him, what in the world did that particular phrase in the theme song that got me puzzled throughout the years
mean?!
Me: So what's it all about man? Mo da di di ay?!
Him: Huh? Mo da di di ay?
*Frowns for a second*Him: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE LAH!!!
Me:
Oh. Hehe.What?What?
Moving along...
This month/quarter/half year end has been the least stressful of the last 6 quarters I've had. Usually, somebody will be screaming the head off and stress and blood pressure levels will be on the high side. Faces black and grim.
Now what are the two boys Viki and Chat up to at 9pm on a Monday evening?
They hooked up a PS3 to the meeting room's projector screen. By the way, I kick ass with my drifting. Don't mess. My 8 year old cousin hasn't managed to beat me yet at Need For Speed.
So what else has been happening?
Fire drill!!!
Some idiot doing maintenance 'accidentally' broke the fire alarm glass. And his timing was impeccable. He managed to do that right after lunch. And just as I stepped into the office. On the 19th floor.
Everyone stood in the office looking stunned and we all contemplated whether it was a joke or not and whether we should go down the stairs. Then we reluctantly packed up our bags and laptops. And guess what? The emergency exit closest to the cubicles was locked! Brill. So much for practice drill (note, singular) and all the instructions and appointments of fire marshalls among the employees for each floor. None of them appeared.
Thank God I've been cutting back on my high heels. Walking down 19 flights of stairs is no joke. By the time I got to the first floor, my knees were starting to shake.
How not to capture such sweet sweet memories?
Everyone gathering at the concourse. Hehe... some of us found out the schedule of the first and only practice fire drill we had a few months back, and 20 minutes before it was supposed to go off, we packed our things and went down to wait already. This time, not too lucky.
Myself, KC and Jess. No, KC's not that tall, he was standing on the higher step. Yes, Jess is that tall. You can't see it, but Jess and I were sweating from the long descent. Tina, who was wearing heels as well promptly went to 1U after that to buy a pair of slippers to leave in the office locker. Labels: My stupid moments, Work tales

Inside my head
Ever wondered what goes through my mind? This morning while toasting waffles...
... now what's waffles without honey? Hmm... the honey has some funny spots at the bottom of the bottle. Looks like some sort of growth.Should I take the honey?Wait... I've never remembered anyone mentioning about honey getting spoilt over time...Hmm... ah well, if I get diarrhea I'll know it's bad then.*Scoops honey*
Maybe the funny growth would give me Silver Surfer's abilities! Then I can go WhOoooSssH!*Happily eats waffle*
I'm soooo going to blog about this.Labels: My stupid moments

Australia in February: Part III
Yeah, I'm slow in posting pictures. It's just annoyingly slow to post pictures up.

This was taken before dinner on the last night in Gold Coast. We were waiting for the restaurant to prepare whatever they needed to prepare before letting anyone in. So we started taking pictures of ourselves.
From left: Chris, Danny, Hani, Michelle C (not Michelle from BLC), June, myself and Azlina
But...
They made us wait for so long we got bored.
So...
We camwhored!
We decided to do jumping jacks for the camera! What we lacked in coordination...
We made up with enthusiasm!
I don't know what was in the minds of the others but I was thinking... "Fly dainty fairy! Fly to the sky!"

And yet... somehow... I don't know. Maybe my wings were too small and my bottom too big. Dainty fairy could. Not. Take. Off.
D*mmit. I look like I'm just an extra prop standing there singing twinkle twinkle little star.
And even then I couldn't even do that properly. In my defense, June looked like an extra prop as a tree.
And my boss thought she was part of some kung fu flick.
Not satisfied, or rather finding we still have to wait, we tried yet again. See me run! See me run!
Wait for it, wait for it...
There! I'm jumping! I'm jumping! Jump! Jump to the sky!
Great timing Danny boy!
So I don't jump very high. I'm a dainty fairy, remember?
After seeing how much fun we had, our South African colleague, Bradley, from Singapore, joined in. I don't know what Danny eats but boy, can he jump. Chris, with a (seriously) bigger butt takes a little more time to jump.
Hehe... Bradley looks like he's being pulled up by an invisible hand. Look at the amount of energy Chris uses to jump man.
But Chris insisted that despite his big butt, he can still stay in the sky for a long time.Ok. Lazy to post anymore pictures.

I am so smart I amaze myself
Being true to myself, I have once again proven my fantastic, out-of-the-roof IQ level and pure brilliant self. Yes, I'm smart and I'm not ashamed of declaring it for all to hear!
The rest of you? Pffttt. Nothing compared to me and that's a fact.
See the book on top of my car? It's my Bible. I left it on top of my car as I was rummaging through my handbag for my car keys after service.
AND I DROVE AROUND BANGSAR FOR 20 MINUTES BEFORE I PARKED MY CAR AND REALISED I WAS DRIVING IT AROUND BANGSAR FOR 20 MINUTES WITH MY BIBLE ON MY CAR ROOF!!!
I got out of the car, saw the Bible and very likely had my cheeks the shade of my car. Ooo... so that's why the car was honking at me and I actually shouted at him,
"I saw you larh babes!" because I thought he feared I was going to reverse into his path. Urhm. Mind you, I had my windows down as well. I didn't plan to shout and let the whole neighbourhood hear me. It just... came out of my mouth.
Oooo... that's why I was getting those looks from pedestrians I passed. I thought they were thinking what a cool chick with cool shades in a cool Wira.
Sigh. Guess not.
So yeah. Anyone wants to contest against my super duper canggih-fied intelligence? The next time I don't reply an sms/call/email/MSN message/G-talk message, can you please just bear in mind that I have the attention and memory of a bird?
Thanks ya.
Grumble to self: Seriously, I think God makes me go through all the stupid embarassing moments to keep my level of arrogance down.
